MONTGOMERY – The Montgomery City-County Public Library (MCCPL) will celebrate National Library Week 2015 beginning Monday and continuing through April 17 with a range of activities at each of the 10 branch locations.

"National Library Week is really important for us here in the River Region as we spotlight one of our community’s greatest assets," Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange said. "Our libraries and our librarians are vital resources that complement the roles of parents, teachers and mentors in ensuring a bright future for our youth through education."

Events scheduled for Monday include a LifeSouth blood drive at the EL Lowder Regional Branch Library, 2590 Bell Rd., a special edition of Afterschool Story Time at Pike Road Library, 9585 Vaughn Rd., and career discussion at Bertha Pleasant Williams, 1276 Rosa L. Parks Ave.

Alabama State University President Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd will visit the Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Branch Library, 245 High St., Tuesday to discuss "unlimited possibilities at your library" in honor of the nationwide theme of National Library Week. LifeSouth will travel to the Pintlala Branch Library, located at 255 Federal Road in Pintlala, Tuesday to host a blood drive.

Continuing to build on its commitment to the community, MCCPL will hold the first annual Reference Department’s Job Fair Wednesday at Morgan Branch Library. In addition, several local authors, experts and entertainers will provide presentations on a variety of topics throughout the week at Lewis, Governor’s Square, Ramer, Pike Road, EL Lowder, Pintlala and Coliseum branches.

MCCPL officials hope to cater the celebration to all citizens -- old and young -- by providing activities in which everyone can participate and enjoy. Visit www.mccpl.lib.al.us for a full schedule and additional details.
